China has taken a big step to push back against foreign sanctions. On Monday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang signed an order to enforce new rules that will make China’s response to foreign restrictions even stronger. These rules are based on a law passed in 2021 called the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law. This law allows China to take strict action against individuals or businesses that impose unfair restrictions on Chinese citizens or companies.

Under the new rules, any foreign person or company that takes part in actions seen as harmful to China could end up on a special anti-sanctions list. Once added to this list, they could face serious consequences.

They may not be allowed to enter China, and if they are already in the country, they could be forced to leave. Their money or properties inside China could be taken away or frozen. They could also be stopped from doing any business with Chinese companies or people.

These measures give China more power to fight back against countries that put pressure on it through sanctions and trade restrictions. The new rules are meant to make sure that China can protect its businesses and people from what it sees as unfair treatment.

Who Will Be Affected by the Rules?

The new rules clearly define which areas will be impacted. Foreign people and organizations could be banned from working in several key fields, including education, science, technology, law, environmental protection, business, culture, tourism, health, and sports. This means that if a foreign company or individual is put on China’s anti-sanctions list, they may not be able to teach, research, sell products, or work in these areas inside China.

Besides this, China has also laid out steps to limit the movement of goods and technology. If a company or country places restrictions on China, China can respond by stopping the import and export of certain products to and from that country. This could hurt businesses that depend on Chinese materials or markets.

China’s move comes at a time when it is facing increasing trade restrictions from Western countries. For example, U.S. President Donald Trump has recently placed high tariffs (extra taxes on imports) on Chinese goods.

These tariffs make it more expensive for China to sell its products in the U.S. In response, China has imposed its own counter-tariffs, making it costlier for foreign businesses to sell goods in China. The new rules add another layer to China’s ability to retaliate against such measures.

China’s Ongoing Trade Battle

In recent years, China has been dealing with many trade and investment restrictions. Some countries have limited China’s access to certain technologies and products. Others have tried to block Chinese companies from doing business in their markets. In return, China has taken steps to protect itself.

One way China has responded is by restricting exports of important materials, like rare earth minerals. These minerals are used to make smartphones, electric cars, and other high-tech products. By controlling who gets these materials, China can make it difficult for certain countries to produce high-tech goods.

China has also started investigating foreign companies operating inside the country. Some foreign businesses have faced stricter regulations and legal checks in China. These investigations have made it harder for them to operate smoothly in the Chinese market.

Now, with the new anti-sanctions rules in place, China has even more tools to push back against foreign restrictions. These rules show that China is ready to take tough action if other countries try to limit its growth or business opportunities. While some may see this as a way for China to protect its rights, others may worry that it could lead to more tensions in global trade.

As China enforces these new measures, the world will be watching to see how businesses and governments react. These rules mark a major step in China’s ongoing effort to stand firm against economic pressures from other countries.
