A Florida man is behind bars after a wild New Year’s Day incident involving flashing lights, fake CIA badges, and a truck full of suspicious items. Jorge Alberto Alfonso, 61, was pulled over by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper while driving his white Ford F-150 on Interstate 75. The vehicle stood out because it had flashing red and blue emergency lights, which are usually seen on police cars, not personal trucks.

The trooper, watching traffic from the side of the road, became suspicious after noticing a woman in the front passenger seat “waving her arms, appearing upset or distressed.” When Alfonso was pulled over, he claimed his dog, sitting in the backseat, had accidentally activated the emergency lights.

Things got even stranger when Jorge Alberto Alfonso tried to convince the trooper he was a federal agent. He showed several IDs, including one for a CIA Counter-Terrorism Unit and another claiming to be from MI6, the British intelligence service. He even had a wallet with a CIA emblem coin instead of a proper badge. When questioned further about which agency he worked for, Alfonso could only say, “federal.”

Government Impersonation Scams : Your Shield Against Deceptive and Fraudulent Schemes

The trooper, however, quickly noticed that Jorge Alberto Alfonso’s IDs looked fake. One big clue? Alfonso was wearing a skullcap in the photos, which isn’t allowed in official law enforcement IDs. The design and format of the IDs also didn’t match real government-issued ones. Realizing the IDs were bogus, the trooper arrested Alfonso for pretending to be a law enforcement officer.

The Strange Discovery in the Truck

After Jorge Alberto Alfonso was taken into custody, the police impounded his truck and made some shocking discoveries. Inside the vehicle, they found:

  • At least six guns.
  • Bulletproof vests.
  • Blank passports.
  • Fake federal agency badges.
  • Pills in unmarked bottles.
  • A stash of cash, jewelry, and other items.

The truck had been made to look like it belonged to law enforcement, which added to the deception. Authorities are now trying to figure out why Alfonso had all these items and what he intended to do with them.

Trouble with the Law

Jorge Alberto Alfonso was taken to the Naples Jail Center in Collier County, where he was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer, a serious felony in Florida. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for possessing prescription drugs without a valid prescription.

The Florida Highway Patrol didn’t stop there. They reached out to federal agencies, including the FBI, Border Patrol, and the Diplomatic Security Service, to investigate further. These agencies are now looking into Alfonso’s background and whether he has been involved in any illegal activities beyond this incident.

Interestingly, Jorge Alberto Alfonso owns an HVAC company called Air-Source International Corporation. The company’s website boasts about its commitment to “honesty and integrity,” but the recent events paint a very different picture. Calls to Alfonso’s phone and business went unanswered, and his office number was found to be disconnected.

Jorge Alberto Alfonso is still in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 27 for his arraignment. Until then, authorities are working to unravel the mystery of why a 61-year-old contractor went to such extreme lengths to pose as a federal agent.

This strange case has left authorities and locals scratching their heads. What started as a routine traffic stop turned into an uncovering of fake credentials, dangerous weapons, and a man with an apparent taste for deception.
