On January 9, 2024, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) searched eight locations in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Jharkhand in accordance with the terms of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. In connection with an illegal mining case, searches were carried out at the locations of M/s. Tirupati Roadways, Gurpreet Singh Sabharwal, Lakhmir Singh Sabharwal, Pardeep Goyal, Mohit Goyal, and other individuals.

The ED began an investigation based on a formal complaint (FIR) filed by the Haryana Police in Panchkula, Haryana, regarding illegal mining at Rattewali Village. The complaint stated that the government of Haryana had lost at least Rs. 35 Crore due to excessive mining of sand, gravel, boulders, and other minor minerals that were mined far beyond what was allowed.

According to the results of the ED investigation, M/s. Tirupati Roadways engaged in illicit mining in Rattewali Village, Panchkula, Haryana. The criminal proceeds from this unlawful mining were channelled through banking channels using cash deposits, and they were then invested in movable and immovable assets.

During search operations, incriminating evidence was found and seized, including digital devices, documents pertaining to both moveable and immovable properties, bank lockers, and unaccounted cash totalling Rs. 2.12 crore. Additional research is currently being conducted.
