Unitech Group’s Uniworld City Land Worth Rs 125.06 Crore Attached by ED

In the matter of Unitech Group, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has temporarily attached 39.83% of the 4.79 acres of land that are a part of the township Uniworld City, Nallambakkam, Chennai, Tamilnadu. The associated land is valued at 125.06 crore rupees. The aforementioned property is owned by Unitech Infopark Limited, of which M/s Narnil Infosolutions Private Limited (a benami corporation of Chandras the Promoters of Unitech Group) owns 39.83% of the shares. 

In response to accusations made by homebuyers against Unitech Group, its promoters, and others, the ED opened an inquiry based on a number of FIRs filed by the Delhi Police and CBI. 

According to an investigation by the ED, Chandras of Unitech deposited proceeds from crime of USD 15,087,114 (about Rs 125.06 crore now) through M/s Narnil Infosolutions Private Limited into M/s Unitech Infopark Limited in the 2009–10 fiscal year by purchasing 39.83% of the company’s shares. According to the investigation, Chandras own M/s Narnil Infosolutions Private Limited in its entirety and exercise control over it through their business partners. 

ED has detained Sanjay Chandra, Ajay Chandra, Ramesh Chandra, Preeti Chandra, and Rajesh Malik throughout the course of the inquiry. The ED has so far filed two prosecution complaints, and the Honourable PMLA Court has taken notice of them. According to Article 17, different domestic and foreign assets worth a combined total of 1257.61 Crore have been attached, including the current attachment. Assets from the Carnoustie Group, the Shivalik Group, the Trikar Group, Shell, Benami, and Chandras’ personal firms are included in the attachment. In this case, a total of 7612 crore rupees in criminal gains have been found thus far. Further research is now being conducted.
