The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) conducted search operations at various premises owned by M/s Broadson Commodities Pvt Ltd and M/s Aditya Multicom Private Limited, their directors, Chartered Accountants, and other associates, on June 5, 2023, at 27 locations in Patna (Bihar), Dhanbad, Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), and Kolkata (West Bengal).
The ED launched an investigation based on a number of FIRs that the Bihar Police had lodged against the companies and their directors. FIRs have allegedly been filed against M/s Broadson Commodities Pvt Ltd and M/s Aditya Multicom Private Limited, as well as their directors, for allegedly illegally mining and selling sand without using the department’s pre-paid transportation E-Challan, which was issued by the Mining Authority of Bihar, in response to complaints from the mining department. Due to this, the government exchequer lost a large amount of money—roughly 250 crore rupees.
As a result of the search operation, cash and incriminating documents, including sale deeds for properties purchased and FDRs in the names of businesses and their directors, were discovered. The following items have been seized: about Rs. 1.5 crore in cash, Rs. 11 crore in property documents, Rs. 6 crore in FDRs, and Rs. 60 crore in bank accounts. During the search, further damning physical and digital objects were found, and they have all been confiscated for further examination. The investigation is being deepened.
