The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) searched 16 sites in Bangalore on November 14 and 15, 2022, in connection with the “Super Like Online Earning Application (Part Time Job Scam)” investigation. Under the guidelines of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, the ED searched the residences of those involved, as well as the locations of several banks, including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Dhanalakshmi Bank, and others, and the offices of payment gateways like Phonepay, Paytm, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, etc. Approximately 80 bank accounts belonging to the defendants with balances totalling Rs. 1 crore were frozen by ED during the aforementioned search operations.
Based on a FIR dated 03.03.2021 filed by South CEN Police Station, Bangalore against M/s Super Like Online Earning Application and other accused parties, ED opened a money laundering probe. There is an app called “Super Like” where users may earn money by sharing celebrity images and videos and investing money. The general public invested money in the aforementioned app after becoming drawn to this profitable plan, and after sharing videos of celebrities, they temporarily made some money as profit.
However, after some time had passed, even after uploading movies and images, the consumers still did not receive a return on their investment, and when they attempted to withdraw their money, the aforementioned programme banned the requested amount. As a result, the accused undertook criminal acts relating to the scheduled offence and obtained a significant sum of money from the general public via deception before keeping it. In addition, a charge sheet dated 13.01.202 was also submitted by the police before the Hon’ble Principal City Civil & Sessions Judge in Bangalore. It named 50 accused people, including two Chinese citizens, Shen Long & Himani. In this instance, ED is now conducting more research.
