In a cattle smuggling case, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has temporarily attached 32 properties for a total of Rs. 1,58,47,490 via Provisional Attachment Order dated 02-12-2022. The owners of these properties were Sehegal Hossain and his family. Sehegal Hossain is one of the key players in the entire cattle smuggling operation that crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border and is close friends with Anubrata Mondal.
This case was started by the ED based on an FIR filed by the CBI against Satish Kumar (then Commandant of the BSF-36 Battalion), Md. Enamul Haque, Md. Anarul SK, Md. Golam Mustafa, and other BSF and Indian Customs officials, as well as unidentified others, for the alleged commission of a crime punishable under Section 120B of the IPC and various P.C. Act, 1988 sections. ED filed a PMLA case on September 25, 2020, based on the aforementioned FIR.
In this case, the ED detained Md. Enamul Haque, Satish Kumar, and Sehegal Hossain are now being held in judicial custody in Delhi. The Ld. PMLA Special Court in New Delhi has taken note of both Prosecution Complaints (PCs) that have already been filed in this matter.
The ED has attached assets totalling Rs. 20.25 crore through 7 Provisional Attachment Orders, including the current attachment. In this instance, 29.43 crores of rupees have been determined to be the complete proceeds of the crime. The matter is currently the subject of more inquiry.
