In a case pertaining to the acquisition of land by RB Educational Trust (RBET), which is managed by Smt. Kanta Andotra W/o Choudhary Lal Singh (RBET Chairperson), the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has temporarily attached immovable assets worth Rs 1.21 Crore in the form of land. This is done in accordance with the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA).
Based on the FIR and chargesheet against Smt. Kanta Andotra, W/o Choudhary Lal Singh (Chairperson of RBET) and Ravinder Singh (the then-patwari), filed by ACB, CBI Jammu, ED began an investigation.
The ED investigation found that Choudhary Lal Singh, an ex-minister and twice-resigned MP, and his wife, Smt. Kanta Andotra, the Chairperson of RBET, conspired with revenue officers/officials, including the then-Gridawar, Patwari, Naib Tehsildar, and Tehsildar, to obtain the land measuring 167 Kanal and 15 Marlas, which was worth Rs. 1.21 Crore (as per circle rate in 2011) at the time of possession of proceeds of crime. The land was forcibly transferred in the name of RBET. This is the money obtained from illegal conduct connected to the PMLA planned offence.
Prior to this, on October 17, 2023, the ED searched eight places in the districts of Jammu and Kathua in the Union Territory of J&K and Pathankot, Punjab. On November 7, 2023, Choudhary Lal Singh was taken into custody in connection with this case. Additional research is currently being conducted.
