In the case of Manjit Kaur and others, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Chandigarh, has temporarily attached immovable property in the form of a residential flat in Chandigarh valued at Rs. 86.18 Lakh, belonging to Vijay Pal Singh and Pardeep Baidwan, in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, on March 28, 2024.

Based on many First Information Reports (FIRs) filed by the Chandigarh Police and complaints received from multiple complainants under different sections of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, the ED began an investigation into the accused Manjit Kaur and her family members.

Following an ED investigation, it was discovered that Manjit Kaur had deceived and impersonated herself as a close friend of the governor and the chairman of the Chandigarh Housing Board, UT Administration. She also claimed to be a member of a committee set up by the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, with the purpose of reallocating and renovating properties that had been surrendered under a variety of quotas, including widow and senior citizen quotas. She has defrauded several innocent individuals on this premise by falsely accusing unsuspecting homebuyers of making high-end real estate purchases.

Additionally, comments made by a number of complainants were recorded and their bank account accounts were examined throughout the inquiry. It was discovered that the proceeds of the crime, which were deposited into Manjit Kaur’s bank account, are now making their way to Vijay Pal Singh, Manjit Kaur’s son, and Pardeep Baidwan, his daughter-in-law. Moreover, liens against property and loans taken out for the acquisition of mobile gadgets and electronics were being repaid with the profits of crime.

Immovable property linked to profits of crime was discovered during the PMLA investigation, and Vijay Pal Singh and Pardeep Baidwan were named on a temporary attachment order that attached the property. Additional research is currently being conducted.
