ED attaches Rs. 1.10 crore property of Rajamahal Silks’ partner in illegal mining and trading case

In connection with the case involving unlawful mining and trade of iron ore in Hospet, Karnataka, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has issued a Preliminary Attachment Order attaching one immovable property (Residential Plot) worth Rs. 1.10 Crore of Aslam Pasha, Partner of Rajamahal Silks.

An ED investigation was launched in response to an FIR filed by the CBI, EOW, Chennai, against Rajamahal Silks and its Managing Partner Aslam Pasha under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957. Moreover, the CBI, EOW, Chennai has filed a Chargesheet against M/s Rajamahal Silks, Mr Aslam Pasha, and 25 other accused people before the Hon’ble Civil Court and Judicial Magistrate of First Class, Ankola, Karnataka.

An ED investigation found that in 2009-10, Rajamahal Silks and its managing partner Aslam Pasha, along with others, conspired to illegally acquire, transport, and export 1.32 lakh metric tonnes of iron ore to China from Hospet, Karnataka. This iron ore rightfully belonged to the government of Karnataka, which has complete control over mines and minerals in the state. As a result, the accused caused a loss of Rs. 1.10 crore to the government by evading royalty payments. The investigation is ongoing under PMLA.
