The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has detained Shailesh Kumar Pandey and Prasenjit Das in connection with an investigation into illicit Forex trading at TPG Global FX.

The ED launched an inquiry based on the FIR filed by Kolkata Police under several sections of the IPC against TM Traders and KK Traders. An ED investigation determined that Prasenjit Das and Shailesh Kumar Pandey misled the public by utilising the TP Global FX platform/website to make investments in forex trading. Furthermore, after collecting a significant amount from the public in the accounts of these dummy firms, such funds were layered and transferred to companies (of which accused persons were directors/proprietors), and such funds were then used to purchase movable/immovable properties for personal gains/benefits.

In the case of Kolkata Police, Shailesh Kumar Pandey and Prasenjit Das were under Judicial Custody. The ED sought the presentation of both before the Ld. Special Court, PMLA, in Kolkata. Dissatisfied with the judgement rejecting the production warrant and requests for custody questioning of the accused. The ED petitioned the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta for a revision. The Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta remanded the accused to the ED and ordered him to appear before the Ld. Special Court, PMLA. As a result, both were detained under the PMLA and brought before the Special Court, PMLA, where the Ld. Special Court granted ED custody of both the accused until February 23, 2023. Further research is being conducted.
