A serious security case has come to light in Israel. Authorities have charged a man from Rishon LeZion for passing important information to an Iranian agent.
Secret Contact Through Telegram
The man was accused of making contact with a foreign agent and giving valuable intelligence to an enemy while Israel was at war. According to the charges, the man used Telegram, a popular messaging app, to talk to the Iranian agent.
The contact between the man and the Iranian agent reportedly began when he was living in Latvia. The agent promised him digital payments in return for sharing information from inside Israel. After some time, the man returned to Israel and continued his secret tasks.
One of the tasks given to him was to film a street and some residential buildings in Petah Tikva, a city in Israel. The man sent the video and the location to the Iranian agent, even though it was later found that he had filmed the wrong place. Despite this mistake, he still received payment through his digital wallet. The secret deal between the man and the Iranian agent continued through Telegram, with more assignments being discussed.
Missions for Money
The accused man was also asked to visit a car dealership in the city of Netanya. His job was to check the prices of seven different cars and record his visit. This was another attempt to collect information. It was reported that a kind of “peace agreement” was mentioned between the man and the Iranian agent during these conversations, but the details of this agreement were not clearly completed.
Even though the man did not finish the task at the car dealership, the Iranian agent still paid him. The use of digital wallets allowed money to be sent quickly without leaving obvious traces. According to the authorities, this method made it harder to track the payments and the activities between the two.

The legal team handling the case has requested that the man should stay in custody until his trial is finished. The case shows how sensitive information can easily be passed using simple digital tools like messaging apps and digital payments. The case also shows that people can be recruited for spying even while living outside their own country.
Tense Situation Between Israel and Iran
This case comes at a time when the relationship between Israel and Iran is extremely tense. On June 13, Israel carried out preemptive military strikes against Iran’s nuclear sites. Israeli officials said these attacks were necessary because Iran had reached a dangerous point in its nuclear program. They believed that Iran was getting very close to having nuclear weapons.
Defense experts in Israel shared that Iran had developed the ability to quickly enrich uranium and build nuclear bombs. They estimated that Iran could have enough material to create up to 15 nuclear weapons. Israeli intelligence also found secret efforts by Iran to finish making all the parts needed for a complete nuclear device.
The Israeli strikes marked a major increase in the ongoing conflict. The situation became even more dangerous as Iran also responded with missile attacks. Over 12 days of fighting, Iran launched many missiles at Israel, leading to the deaths of 28 people and injuries to over 3,000 others.

A ceasefire was later arranged with the help of the United States. This temporary stop to the fighting allowed both sides to pause their military actions, but the events of the previous days showed how quickly the situation could turn serious.
The Israeli government believes that Iran’s broader plan includes not just nuclear weapons but also using missiles and supporting other groups that are against Israel. These actions are seen as part of Iran’s wider strategy to harm Israel. The case of the accused man working with an Iranian agent is now part of this larger and very sensitive situation.
The details of this case have raised concerns about how enemies can find ways to gather information from inside a country even during times of war. It also shows how technology like Telegram and digital wallets can be used in modern spying. The accused man’s trial is expected to continue while he remains in custody.
